How a hog share works

A share lets you buy a portion of a single hog directly from the farm at significantly lower per-pound prices than retail cuts. You are buying the meat from one specific animal, customized to your kitchen.

1. Reserve. Place a deposit to claim your share of an upcoming hog. The deposit holds your spot.

2. Cut sheet. A few weeks before processing, we send you a cut sheet. You specify how you want the meat: thickness of chops, size of roasts, what gets ground, what gets made into sausage, whether you want the belly cured or kept fresh, and so on.

3. Final invoice. After processing, we weigh your portion and send a final invoice based on hanging weight. You only pay for what you actually receive.

4. Pickup. You pick up at the farm in Sterling, CT, in coolers we provide for transport. Plan freezer space ahead of time.

What you get

Quarter hog (about 40 lb of finished meat) fills roughly one freezer drawer. Good for a single person or small household for several months.

Half hog (about 75 lb) fills a small chest freezer. Feeds a family of four for half a year or more.

Whole hog (about 150 lb) requires a dedicated chest freezer. The best per-pound value — ideal for large families, share groups, or anyone who plans to use the cuts year-round.

FREEZER SPACE

Plan roughly 1 cubic foot of freezer space per 25-30 lbs of packaged pork.
